A 45 year-old male is facing five charges, plus an alleged breach of a Conditional Sentence Order, after police investigation into a stolen truck.
Sometime between 11:00 p.m. on April 26th and 6:30 a.m. on April 27, 2021, a white, 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from a hotel in the 3800 block of Eastgate Drive. Police received the report of the theft on April 27th. Less than a day later, police located a vehicle matching the description, parked in a lot on Sangster Boulevard. Officers also observed an adult male get into the vehicle briefly and then go back into his residence. On Thursday, April 29th, officers observed the same male driving a grey, 2003 Silverado truck, believed to have the taillights from the stolen vehicle on it. In the course of the male’s arrest, police recovered the keys for the stolen truck. The recovered stolen vehicle was found to have an altered VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) plate, as well as missing VIN stickers. The male was charged.
Forty-five year-old Jonathan Joseph GROHS, of Regina, is charged with:
• Theft of motor vehicle (2004 Chev Silverado) [333.1(1) CC];
• Possession of stolen property over $5,000 (2004 Chev Silverado) [355(a) CC];
• Possession of motor vehicle with an altered/removed VIN [354(2) CC];
• Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (taillights and keys) [355(b) CC]; and
• Breach of release order [145(5)(a) CC].
GROHS is also alleged to be in breach of a Conditional Sentence Order (CSO). GROHS made his first court appearance on these charges before Provincial Court this morning: 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021.
