Two drivers are facing charges after police observed them travelling dangerously over the speed limit – one was caught doing over 200 km/h on the Ring Road.
The first incident took place on Friday, May 1, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m. Patrol officers were in the area of Albert Street and Gordon Road when they observed a group of motorcycles on the roadway without license plates. Officers alerted Air 1 which took over following the group from the sky. At one point, officers in Air 1 observed one of the motorcycles travelling approximately 100 km/h past Candy Cane Park, a 40 km/h zone. The area was filled with families and others enjoying the park.
Air 1 continued to track them, relaying location information to officers on the ground. A member of the Canine Unit initiated a traffic stop a short distance away on Lakeshore Drive. The group of motorcyclists stopped. Officers determined which driver had been driving dangerously and the rest of the group was released.
As a result of this investigation, 26 year-old Muhammad REHAN is charged with:
- Operate a Conveyance Dangerous to the Public [CT 320.13(1)];and
- Breach of Conditional Sentence Order [CC 742.6].
REHAN made his first appearance on these charges today, Monday, May 4, 2026. His motorcycle was also seized and impounded for 30 days.
On Saturday, May 2, 2026 at approximately 8:40 p.m. Officers working in an unmarked police vehicle observed a motorcycle without a license plate near Parliament Road and Albert Street. The driver was speeding, driving 140 km/h down Albert Street. Officers alerted Air 1 and they began to follow the driver from the air. Patrol officers on the ground initiated a traffic stop near the Wascana Parkway Exit at Ring Road. The driver did not stop, accelerating and exiting on to Ring Road where Air 1 observed it travelling well over 200 km/h, weaving in and out of traffic.
Air 1 continued to follow the driver as he drove to the east end of the city. He then drove back south and into the area of Orchard Cresent and Dufferin Avenue. Air 1 relayed this information to officers on the ground and they made their way to the area. Several units activated their emergency lights in an effort to get the driver to stop. The driver did not stop and eventually left the city heading west on Highway 1. A short time later, the driver turned around and came back into the city. Air 1 observed him driving down walking paths as he made his way to a residence on Logan Crescent. Officers arrived at the address moments later and took the male into custody without further incident.
As a result, 22 year-old Evan TOTH is charged with:
