On July 2, 2026 at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers were called to the 2400 block of Wascana Drive for a report of a weapons offence. The Regina Police Service Aerial Support Unit (ASU) was in the area on an unrelated call for service and observed an individual deploying bear spray towards a group of people. ASU officers then saw the suspect and two other individuals get into a vehicle and drive away. Patrol officers on the ground arrived moments later and located the victim. EMS arrived and treated the victim on scene.
ASU tracked the vehicle, enabling patrol officers on the ground to conduct a traffic stop. A female suspect was taken into custody without incident. Subsequent to the arrest, a search of the vehicle revealed an empty can of bear spray and a knife.
As a result of this investigation, a 16 year-old female, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
The youth made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Youth Court today (July 2, 2026).
