A 27 year-old male is charged in relation to a weapons offence that took place last night, Sunday July 5, 2026.
Officers, including members of the Canine Unit and Downtown Safety Team, were called to the area of Victoria Avenue and Scarth Street just before midnight for a report of a male suspect walking around the area carrying a knife.
When officers arrived, they located a male matching the suspect description. The male initially resisted arrest but was eventually taken into custody without incident.
Subsequent to arrest, officers searched the suspect and located the blade and handle from a pair of scissors.
As a result, 27 year-old Brandon IRELAND is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88(a)];
- Fail to Comply with Condition of an Undertaking [CC 145 (4)(A)];and
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order [CC 733.1].
IRELAND will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on August 24, 2026.
