The Regina Police Service and Animal Protection are investigating following a dog attack.
On June 17, 2026 at approximately 8:00 p.m., police were patrolling in the area of 6th Avenue and Garnet Street when they were flagged down by two children. They told police they had been attacked by a dog. One child had a visible wound on his face. The victims also reported they witnessed the dog attack another dog in a nearby yard.
EMS attended and transported the nine-year-old victim to hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which appeared to be, non-life-threatening.
Animal Protection officers and police located the dog at a residence a short distance away. At this time, the dog is in the custody of Animal Protection. As per regular practice, Animal Protection has assumed the lead on this investigation and the Regina Police Service will assist as required.
