With temperatures warming up, the Regina Police Service is reminding the public that not only will pedestrian traffic be increasing, but motorcycle traffic too. All road users are encouraged to pay extra attention to their surroundings when walking or driving.
On April 14, 2026, police were dispatched to a collision in the area of Castle Road and Davidson Crescent. A motorcyclist lost control of their bike, travelling through a fence before coming to a stop in the yard of a residence. EMS transported the victim to hospital with what appeared to be serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Safe roadways are everyone’s responsibility.
Road Safety Tips
Drivers:
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Check mirrors and shoulder check before changing lanes
- Slow down and obey speed limits
- Watch for children in school zones and near parks.
- Motorcyclists should always wear proper safety gear, including brightly coloured and/or reflective gear.
- Motorcyclists should make every effort to ensure that drivers are aware of their presence before making any lane changes etc.
- Put down your cellphone. Distracted Driving Tickets for first-time offenders are $580 and four demerit points on your license.
Pedestrians:
- Whenever possible, stay on sidewalks and pathways. If you must walk on the road, travel on the shoulder of the left lane, facing oncoming traffic.
- Look left, then right and then left again before crossing a street.
- Always try to cross the street at an intersection or crosswalk.
- Always be mindful of turning vehicles. If possible, make eye contact with a driver before proceeding.
- Don’t be distracted by technology. Remove headphones and avoid talking on cellphones when crossing the street.
Together we can create safe roadways for everyone.
