A 35 year-old male has been charged following a call for service involving a cross bow.
At approximately 2:10 a.m. on July 7, 2026, police were called to a residence in the 800 block of Elphinstone Street for a report of an adult male discharging a crossbow and threatening occupants inside the residence.
Officers arrived on scene, entered the residence and located three people inside. Two occupants, an adult female and a male youth, were safely evacuated.
During the response, an altercation occurred between the adult male and police. Two officers discharged their firearms, injuring the adult male. Officers provided first aid on scene until EMS arrived and transported the male to hospital to be treated for, what appeared to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Further investigation determined the 35 year-old male pointed the crossbow at two responding officers. As a result of this investigation, the male is charged with:
- 2 x Assault a Peace Officer With a Weapon [CC 270.01(1)(a)]; and
- Uttering Threats [CC 264.1(1)(A)].
The 35 year-old male will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on July 23, 2026.
As per The Saskatchewan Police Act, 1990, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (*SIRT) is leading a second investigation, into the officer-involved, non-fatal shooting aspect of this incident. More information on the SIRT investigation can be found here.
