On Friday, February 28, 2025 at approximately 7:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on the 800 block of Queen Street to locate and arrest a male youth who was wanted on a warrant.
The youth and two other individuals exited the residence, before entering a taxi. Police monitored the taxi until it reached its destination in the 400 block of Albert Street, where the three occupants were subsequently arrested. Upon search, the male youth was found to be in possession of a firearm, ammunition, a bladed weapon, and a baton.
As a result of this investigation, the 15 year-old youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm [CC 95 (1)(A)];
- Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm [CC 92 (1)];
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x2 [CC 117.01 (1)];
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon [CC 90]; and
- Failure to Comply [YCJA 137].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Youth Court this morning, March 3, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
