On Sunday, February 23, 2025, at approximately 4:20 a.m., police observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the area of 7th Avenue North and McIntyre Street before losing sight of it.
With assistance from the Aerial Support Unit, officers located the vehicle shortly thereafter, parked in the 500 block of Lorne Street. The occupants were found inside and arrested without incident.
A search of the vehicle revealed a firearm, ammunition, and items consistent with drug trafficking.
As a result of this investigation, 18 year-old Talon PANKIW is charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 92(1)];
- Obstruction of a Peace Officer [CC 129(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Conditions [CC 145(4)(A)]; and
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking [CDSA 5(2)]; and
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)]; and
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Motor Vehicle [CC 94(1)(a)(ii); and
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon [CC 90]
- Careless use of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition [CC 86(1)]; and
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime [CC 355(B)].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
