On Saturday, February 22, 2025 at approximately 6:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to a complex in the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue for the reports of a weapons offence. Information received indicated two males were inside the building with a firearm. Shortly after, the suspects were seen entering a taxi, which drove away.
Officers located the taxi on Broadway Avenue and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. A search of the vehicle revealed one shotgun. Both suspects were arrested without incident.
As a result of this investigation, 18 year-old Deshawne CAMPEAU, of Regina, is charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 91(1)];
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon [CC 90];
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x2 [117.01 (1)];
- Failure to Comply with Disposition [YCJA 137];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device in a Motor Vehicle [CC 94 (a)(ii)]; and
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86 (2)].
CAMPEAU made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court this morning, February 24, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
