On Sunday, February 9th, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., police were dispatched to the 4600 block of 4th Avenue for the report of a weapons offence involving firearms.
A short time later, police located an associated vehicle and conducted a high-risk traffic stop near 4th Avenue. Three occupants were inside, who were arrested without incident. A search of the vehicle revealed two firearms.
As a result of this investigation, 29 year-old Michael BRYANT, of Biggar, is charged with:
- Careless Storage of a Firearm x 2 [CC 86 (2)];
- Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm [CC 92 (1)];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle x 2 [CC 94 (1)];
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x 5 [CC 117.01 (1)]; and
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm [CC 95 (1)].
Thirty-two year-old John DEMARAIS, of Regina, is charged with:
- Careless Storage of a Firearm x 2 [CC 86 (2)];
- Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm [CC 92 (1)];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle x 2 [CC 94 (1)];
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm [CC 95 (1)]; and
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x 7 [CC 117.01 (1)].
A 17 year-old youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Careless Storage of a Firearm x 2 [CC 86 (2)];
- Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm [CC 92 (1)];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle x 2 [CC 94 (1)];
- Possession of a Loaded Firearm [CC 95 (1)];
- Failure to Comply with Disposition [YCJA 137]; and
- Identity Fraud x 3 [CC 56.1 (1)].
BRYANT and DEMARAIS made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court this morning, Monday, February 10th, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
