At approximately 9:50 a.m. on Friday, January 24th, 2025, police were dispatched to a business on the 4800 block of Harbour Landing Drive for the report of a firearms offence. Initial information received indicated that gunshots were heard coming from inside the building.
Police attended and a brief investigation resulted in the discovery of a loaded firearm as well as damage to the floor consistent with gunshots.
As a result of this investigation, a 17 year-old male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition [CC 88];
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x5 [CC 117.01(1)];
- Possession of a Loaded or Restricted Firearm x2 [CC 95(1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm x2 [CC 86(2)];
- Failure to Comply with Disposition [YCJA 137];
- Possession of Unauthorized Firearm x2 [CC 92(1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(1)]; and
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 [CC 355(B)].
The youth made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Youth Provincial Court this morning, January 27th, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
