The Regina Police Service is providing an update regarding the motor vehicle collision that occurred on Monday, September 30, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., at the intersection of Albert Street and 1st Avenue N.
Police were dispatched to the intersection for the report of a collision involving a vehicle and an adult male pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located the injured pedestrian, who was attended to by EMS and transported to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with police.
On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
As a result of the investigation into this incident, the driver of the vehicle has been issued two tickets under The Traffic Safety Act (TSA):
· Failure to yield to pedestrian at “walk” signal [TSA 237 (2) (b)]; and
· Failure to exit left turn in extreme left hand lane [TSA 218 (2) (b)].
Tickets were served to the driver on Thursday, November 28, 2024, with a first court appearance in January. The investigation into this incident is now complete.
