On Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a retail store in the 4500 block of Gordon Road in Regina for the report of a weapons offence. Information received was that a loss prevention officer had confronted a group of male youths and one of the members of the group sprayed him with bear spray or mace.
While officers were on the way to the call, the Regina Police Service Aerial Support Unit located youth in the area matching the description at a bus stop. Ground police arrived and identified the 13 year-old assailant, who was arrested and charged.
A 13 year-old male youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with: Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)].
The youth is scheduled to make his first appearance on this charge on Tuesday, February 27, 2023.
