Continued investigation into several recent cases of Break and Enter, and Theft, have been concluded with the arrest of an adult male, who now faces numerous criminal charges. A 34 year-old female, who was with the suspect at the time of his arrest, also faces two criminal charges.
On October 3, 2022, the owner of a company on Hodsman Road, called police to report the theft of a company truck, a Chevrolet Silverado 3500. An unknown suspect had broken into a company compound by cutting off a lock. The owner also indicated the keys to the vehicle had been stolen in a previous Break and Enter on September 28, 2022. On October 5, 2022, police were dispatched to a report of two people who appeared to be passed out in a white Silverado in the 2100 block of Rae Street. When police roused the male driver, he attempted to put the truck into drive, but he was arrested without further incident. An adult female, the second occupant of the truck, was arrested at the same time. The truck was confirmed to be the same vehicle stolen on October 3rd from Hodsman Road. In the search incident to arrest, it’s alleged the driver was in possession of a machete and sets of keys which did not belong to him.
This same male suspect is believed to have been involved in the following criminal activities:
- On June 5, 2022, police were dispatched to a report of an unconscious male in a truck in the 3900 block of Rochdale Boulevard. When police arrived, they activated emergency equipment, but the truck drove away and out of the city at a high speed, so police were not able to apprehend the driver. Further investigation made a likely identification of the male driver, which was confirmed with the October 5th arrest of the same male.
- On May 23, 2022, at approximately 7:50 a.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 100 block of East 6th Avenue for a Break and Enter, as well as the theft of a boom-forklift heavy vehicle. Investigation made the connection between this event and the suspect arrested on October 5th.
- On April 25, 2022, at approximately 11:05 a.m., the owner of a business in the 2400 block of 12th Avenue reported the theft of a work truck, a 2019 Ford F250. The vehicle’s GPS system was key to the recovery of the vehicle, which contained evidence believed to belong to the suspect. That suspect is allegedly the same individual who was arrested on October 5th.
Forty-eight year-old Jason Gregory BOLTON of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of Property (Silverado 3500) Obtained by Crime over $5,000, s. 355(a) CC;
- 3 X Possession of Property (keys, license plate) Obtained by Crime under $5,000, s. 355(b) CC;
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon, s. 90 CC;
- 2 X Break, Enter and Commit Theft, s. 348(1)(b) CC;
- Theft of Property over $5,000, s. 334(a) CC;
- Theft of Motor Vehicle, s. 333.1(1) CC;
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, s. 320.13(1) CC; and
- Possession of Property (Ford F250) Obtained by Crime over $5,000, s. 355(a) CC.
BOTON made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (today) October 6, 2022.
Thirty-four year-old Vanessa Jean RICHARD, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of Property (Silverado 3500) Obtained by Crime over $5,000, s. 355(a) CC; and
- Possession of Property (license plate) Obtained by Crime under $5,000, s. 355(b) CC.
RICHARD was released on an undertaking to appear in Provincial Court on these charges at 9:30 a.m. on December 5, 2022.
