On October 4, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police observed a speeding vehicle bearing no license plate matching the description of a vehicle stolen in mid-September. Police followed the vehicle, which entered Glen Elm Trailer Court. Police successfully deployed a spike belt as it exited. The vehicle continued on deflated tires, ultimately stopping in the area of the 1200 block of Bond Street, where the driver fled on foot. As police approached the driver, he dropped a can of bear spray. The driver, a 17 year-old male, was arrested and charged.
A seventeen year-old, who will not be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 [CC 355(A)];
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 [CC 355(B)];
• Possession of Prohibited Device [CC 88]; and
• Dangerous Drive [CC 320.13(1)].
The youth was released and scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court on Monday, December 5, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.
