Two youth are facing charges in connection with a weapons incident at a Regina residence on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
At approximately 12:40 a.m., police were dispatched to the area of 700 block Garnet Street for the report of a weapons offence involving a firearm. A caller had said he had heard a loud bang and saw a hole in the wall in the bedroom right next to him.
Police arrived in the area and investigated. It was discovered that the bullet had come from a neighbouring house. Police investigated the neighbouring home and located two suspects who were arrested and safely taken into custody. A firearm and ammunition were located in the residence where the youth had shot from and were seized by Police. Both youths were charged and no one was hurt from this incident.
A sixteen year-old Regina female, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm [CC 92(1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)]
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)]
- Reckless Discharge of a Firearm [CC 244.2(1)(B)].
- Possession of a Firearm contrary to prohibition [CC 117.01(1)]; and
- Failure to Comply with Condition of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)]
A fourteen year-old Regina male, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm [CC 92(1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)]
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)]
- Reckless Discharge of a Firearm [CC 244.2(1)(B)]; and
- Possession of a Firearm contrary to prohibition [CC 117.01(1)]
Both youth are scheduled to make their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on November 15, 2021.
