At approximately 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021 police were called to a report of a weapons offence in the 900 Block of Victoria Avenue. The caller stated that he was walking down the street when a van with two occupants pulled over, threatened him with a firearm and took some of his belongings.
When officers arrived a short time later, the victim could not be located. They did, however, observe a van driving nearby that matched the description given by the caller.
Initial attempts by patrol officers to safely pull the suspect vehicle over were unsuccessful. During the incident, officers observed the driver of the suspect vehicle come into contact with a parked vehicle on 3rd Avenue North. It then carried on and, at one point, it was observed driving into oncoming traffic. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in a parking lot in the 700 Block of Broad Street after coming into contact with a tire deflation device. The male driver attempted to flee but was apprehended by our Canine Unit. Officers located multiple bladed weapons inside the vehicle.
As a result of this investigation one male is facing charges:
Thirty-Nine year-old Lindsay Charles HUNTER is charged with:
- Flight from Peace Officer [CC 320.17]
- Failure to Stop After Accident [CC 320.16]
- Operate Conveyance Dangerous to Public [CC 320.13(1)]
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited [CC 320.18(1)]
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release [CC 145(5)(A)]
HUNTER appeared in Provincial Court in Regina at 9:30 a.m. this morning (Monday, November 15, 2021).
