The Regina Police Service Drug Unit (RDU) with the assistance of the Property Crimes Section and members of the Regina Police Service SWAT Team completed enforcement action on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, in relation to illegal drug trafficking and firearms offences within the City of Regina.
The RDU executed CDSA search warrants on a vehicle and a hotel room in the east end of Regina.
As a result of the enforcement, 24 year-old Kolton Christopher KLOTZ and 30 year-old Adriano Michael VECCHIOLI, both of Regina, SK, were arrested in relation to the investigation.
Approximately 70 grams of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, currency, a loaded .22 caliber handgun, 20 gauge shotgun, bladed weapons and several other items to support drug trafficking, were seized.
KLOTZ and VECCHIOLI were jointly charges with the following offences:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl – S.5(2) CDSA;
- Possession of methamphetamine – S.4(1) CDSA; and
- Possession of cocaine – S.4(1) CDSA.
KLOTZ received the following additional charges:
- Unsafe storage of a firearm (.22 caliber handgun) – S.86(2) CC;
- Weapon dangerous to public peace – S.88 CC;
- Carrying a concealed weapon – S.90 CC;
- Possession of a restricted firearm without a license – S.92(1) CC;
- Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition (loaded firearm) – 95(1)(a) CC;
- Possession of a restricted firearm obtained by a commission of an offence – S.96(1) CC;
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order – S.117.01(1) CC;
- Possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order – S.117.01(1) CC;
- Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000 – S.355(B) CC; and
- Breach of a release order – S.145(5)(A) CC.
VECCHIOLI received the following additional charges:
- Possession of a firearm without a license – S.92(1) CC;
- Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle – S.94(1)(a)(ii) CC;
- Possession of a firearm knowing the serial number had been removed – S.108(1)(B);
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order – S.117.01(1) CC;
- Possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order – S.117.01(1) CC; and
- 2 X Breach of a release order – S.145(5)(A) CC.
Both KLOTZ and VECCHIOLI made their first court appearances on these charges before Provincial Court at 9:00 a.m. on April 8, 2021 (today).
