On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at approximately 10:10 p.m., officers, including the Aerial Support Unit (ASU), were dispatched to the area of Dixon Crescent following a report of a weapons offence.
Police received information that a group of youths had been approached by three male youth suspects, one of whom threatened them with a firearm. ASU officers observed three individuals matching the description walking in the area. ASU officers relayed the suspects’ location to officers on the ground.
Officers arrived and took all three into custody. Following the investigation, two of the three youths were released. During the search of one of the suspects subsequent to arrest, officers located an airsoft handgun and a can of bear spray. The male youth suspect was taken into custody without incident.
As a result of this investigation, a 12 year-old male, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Possession of Imitation Weapon [CC 88]; and
- Carrying Concealed Prohibited Device or Ammunition [CC 90].
The youth will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Youth Court on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 9:30 a.m.
