The Regina Police Service is investigating four offences involving bladed weapons over the past four days.
Shortly before 5:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2025, officers were called to the 1900 block of Scarth Street for a report of an injured person. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim lying on the ground who had a deep laceration to his hand and appeared to have been bear sprayed. He told police he had been attacked by a group of teenaged males. The male victim was taken to hospital by EMS where he was treated for his injuries, which appeared to be non-life-threatening.
At approximately 5:20 a.m. on May 1, 2026, officers were called to the hospital for a report of an adult male who had arrived in the ER with lacerations on his hand. The victim told police he and his friends were in Victora Park when they were approached by an adult male suspect who had a machete. The suspect swung the weapon at the victim, hitting him in the hands. The male suspect fled the scene. The victim was taken to hospital by his friends to be treated for his injuries.
At this time, both occurrences are under investigation. It is unknown if they are related.
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers were called to the area of 5th Avenue and Athol Street for a report of an injured male. Upon arrival, they located an adult male victim who had several large lacerations to his upper body. EMS transported the victim to hospital to be treated for the injuries, which appeared to be serious, but non-life-threatening. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
At approximately 1:40 a.m. this morning, May 4, 2026, officers were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Elphinstone Street for a report of a weapons offence. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim sitting on the steps who had been bear sprayed and was suffering from a laceration to his head. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS to be treated for his injuries, which appeared to be non-life-threating.
