At approximately 12:15 a.m. this morning (May 4, 2026), police were dispatched to a residence in the area of Ottawa Place for a report of a disturbance. The complainant reported an individual inside the residence was acting erratically, damaging property inside the residence and had access to firearms.
Officers arrived on scene, ensured the complainant and two children safely exited the home and ordered the suspect to exit the residence as well. The suspect did not comply. Nearly two hours later, the suspect broke a basement window, exited the residence and despite officer commands, fled from the scene.
The Canine Unit began tracking the suspect as he jumped over fences and ran through yards. A short time later, police caught up with the suspect. Police Service Dog (PSD) Otto made contact with the suspect, biting him in the lower leg. Despite this, the suspect began punching and kicking the PSD with his free leg and, as officers attempted to gain control of the suspect, he reached towards the firearm on one of the officer’s duty belts. Officers stopped him and the suspect began assaulting the officers, punching them multiple times and attempting to kick them. The suspect was eventually taken into custody. EMS transported him to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries consistent with a dog bite.
As a result of this investigation, 34 year-old Justin WALKER is charged with:
- Mischief under $5000 [CC 430(4)];
- Resist Arrest [CC 129(A)];
- Disarming a Peace Officer [CC 270.1]; and
- 4 x Assault a Peace Officer [CC 270(1)(A)].
WALKER will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court, this afternoon, May 4, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
