The Regina Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with a break and enter that resulted in injuries to two individuals.
On Thursday, April 2, 2026, at approximately 4:15 a.m., police were dispatched to the 3500 block of Dewdney Avenue for a report of a break and enter. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals who had sustained head injuries. Both were assessed and treated on scene by EMS and transported to hospital.
A short time later, officers located a male in a vehicle in the area of 1st Avenue North and Edward Street who matched the suspect description from the earlier incident. The individual was found to be in possession of a firearm and was taken into custody without incident at approximately 5:10 a.m. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, at approximately 5:25 p.m., a second suspect was located entering a business in the 900 block of Albert Street and was arrested without incident. The investigation is ongoing.
As a result of the investigation to date, 35 year-old Justin ZAPLITNEY, is charged with:
- Break Enter & Commit [CC 348(1)(B)];
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Armed Robbery Using a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm [CC 344(1)(A)];
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88];
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)]; and
- 2 x Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)].
ZAPLITNEY made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court on April 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.
Twenty-nine year-old Taryn MCALLISTER, is charged with:
- Break Enter & Commit [CC 348(1)(B)];
- Assault with a Weapon [CC 267(A)];
- Armed Robbery Using a Restricted Firearm or Prohibited Firearm [CC 344(1)(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Condition of a Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
MCALLISTER made her first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court this morning, April 10, 2026 at 9:30 a.m.
