Shortly before 7:40 am, on December 16, 2025, police were called to an area near the intersection of Kress Street and Longman Crescent, for a report that a vehicle had collided with a pedestrian.
Further investigation revealed a pick-up truck had collided with a female pedestrian who was walking on the street. The driver remained on scene and contacted police. The 26 year-old female victim was taken to hospital by EMS with life-threatening injuries and later passed away as a result of her injuries.
As a result of a detailed, nearly two-month investigation led by the Regina Police Service Investigative Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (ICART*), and in consultation with the Crown, the driver of vehicle, 49 year-old Kevin RIEGER, is charged with:
- Unlawfully Operate a Motor Vehicle at a Speed that is Greater than Reasonable and Safe [TSA 199(3)].
RIEGER will make his first appearance on this charge in Regina Provincial Court on March 30, 2026.
*ICART is a highly-trained team of police officers that investigates complex collision scenes, often involving serious injury or death. The team collaborates with Patrol, Forensic Identification and other units to do this work. Traffic collision investigations are some of the most detailed and complex investigations done by a police service.
