An eighteen year-old male is facing charges after evading police yesterday morning.
At approximately 6:45 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, police were dispatched to the area of Albert Street and 25th Avenue for a report that a vehicle was swerving and hitting curbs as it travelled down the road. They arrived a short time later but the vehicle was no longer in the area.
Further investigation led officers to the area of Regency Crescent and 3rd Avenue North where they located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, evaded police and carried on driving erratically for a short distance before colliding with a fence in the 2900 block of Avonhurst Drive. Officers did not pursue the vehicle. They arrived on scene a short time later and observed the suspect driver fleeing the vehicle on foot. Despite repeated commands to stop, the suspect continued to flee from police, running through a creek and through a residential area before hiding under a vehicle.
A Police Service Dog from the Regina Police Service Canine Unit was deployed to assist in tracking and locating the suspect without making contact. The suspect was located hiding under a vehicle in the 600 block of Robinson Street and was taken into custody without further incident.
As a result of this investigation, 18 year-old Sky KERR is charged with:
- Evade Police [CC 320.17];
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle [CC 320.13(1)];
- Obstruct Peace Officer [CC 129(a)];
- Hit and Run [CC 320.16];
- Breach of Form 10 release (curfew) [CC 145(5)(a)].
KERR will make his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court, with a future court date to be set.
