A 37 year-old male is facing multiple charges after evading police and driving dangerously both in and outside of the city.
At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 the RPS Aerial Support Unit (ASU) was made aware of a stolen vehicle speeding along Highway 11 near Lumsden. RCMP attempted a traffic stop but the suspect driver evaded police and continued south bound on Highway 11 – at times travelling at speeds upwards of 170 km/h.
RCMP did not pursue the vehicle. The RPS ASU began to track it from the sky. The vehicle entered the city of Regina, travelling at speeds upwards of 100 km/h, running red lights and, at one point, was driving the wrong way on Albert Street North. RPS officers attempted a second traffic stop but the suspect once again evaded police. Officers did not pursue the vehicle and the Aerial Support Unit continued to track from the sky. The suspect then headed towards the south end of the city where he continued to drive dangerously almost causing several accidents.
Patrol Officers and officers from the RPS Tactical Support Unit (TST) assisted on the call for service from the ground. They used two tire deflation devices in order to immobilize the vehicle. Despite a successful first deployment of the device, the driver continued to evade police, however, this time at a much slower speed due to the damage to the tires. A short time after the second deployment, tires and other parts began falling off the vehicle as it continued to travel through south central Regina.
At approximately 10:36 p.m., in the area of College Avenue and Toronto Street, the vehicle came to a stop. The suspect driver exited the vehicle and began to run from police. Officers quickly caught up to him but the suspect continued to actively avoid arrest. A Police Service Dog was deployed and made contact, biting the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. He was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries consistent with a dog bite.
As a result of this occurrence, 37 year-old Randy YAHOLNITSKY of Medicine Hat is charged with:
- Operation of a Conveyance Dangerous to the Public [CT 320.13];
- Flight from Peace Officer [CT 320.17];
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 [CC355(A)];
- Theft Under $5,000 [CC 334(B)];
- Resist Arrest [CC 129(A)]; and
- Fail to Comply With Conditions of a Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
YAHOLNITSKY made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Court, yesterday (October 29, 2025) at 2:00 p.m.
