On Monday, September 22, 2025, at approximately 1:20 a.m., police were dispatched to a business in the 4100 block of 5th Avenue for a report of a firearms offence.
The RPS Aerial Support Unit (ASU) was up in the air and quickly obtained a visual on the location. ASU officers observed two males fighting and relayed this information to ground units who were arriving on scene. As officers approached the two males, one of them fled from the area on foot. ASU tracked the male suspect through nearby alleys, following him to a backyard in the 1100 block of King Street where the suspect laid down. ASU directed officers on the ground to the location of the male, and he was placed under arrest. During the arrest, the suspect became combative with officers, spitting on one of them.
Further investigation revealed the suspect had physically assaulted two victims and threatened to shoot them. Two other victims reported they were also threatened by the suspect in this manner.
As a result of this investigation, 20 year-old Toby THOMPSON is charged with:
- 2 x Assault [CC 266];
- Assault a Peace Officer [CC 270(1)(A)];
- Resist Arrest [CC 129(A)]; and
- 4 x Uttering Threats [CC 264.1(1)(A)].
THOMPSON made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court yesterday morning, September 22, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
