At approximately 5:40 p.m. last evening (August 11, 2025), officers were called to a residence in the 300 block of Smith Street for a report of a firearms offence. The caller stated there were two males inside the residence with firearms and they wouldn’t allow anyone to leave.
Officers arrived on scene, established a perimeter and began to clear the residence. While this was taking place, a dog exited the residence and began to attack a Regina Police Service Canine Unit Police Service Dog (PSD).
An officer discharged their firearm at the dog, resulting in its death. The PSD suffered minor physical injuries.
At this time, this investigation is ongoing and there are no further details for release to the public.
