A 30-year-old female and 28-year-old male are facing multiple charges following an impaired driving incident in the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue.
At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, police received a report that two individuals were unconscious in a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that both occupants were unresponsive.
Shortly after officers arrived, the driver regained consciousness and exited the vehicle. At that time, officers observed a canister of bear spray inside the vehicle. Both the male and female occupants were arrested without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded sawed-off rifle, ammunition, a knife, and drug paraphernalia.
As a result, 30 year-old Alyssa OKEEWEEHOW and 28 year-old Darian BIRD are jointly charged with:
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(B)];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 92(1)];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [CC 94(1)];
- Carrying a Concealed or Prohibited Device or Ammunition [CC 90];and
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)].
BIRD is also charged with:
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand [CT 320.15(1)]; and
- Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited [CT 320.18(1)(A)];
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges this morning, June 16, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in Regina Provincial Court.
