On Saturday, May 31, 2025 at approximately 5:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of Toronto Street for the report of a weapons offence. The caller indicated that a male was causing a disturbance and was believed to be in possession of a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers observed a female and a male, who matched the suspect description, standing outside the residence. The female was arrested without incident. The male suspect ignored police commands and retreated inside the residence. A short time later, he exited the house and was subsequently arrested.
A search warrant was executed on the residence and revealed multiple firearms and ammunition.
As a result of this investigation, 39 year-old Tyler Nathan DESNOMIE, is charged with:
- Pointing a Firearm [CC 87];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 92(1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)];
- Possession of a Loaded or Restricted Firearm [CC 95(1)];
- 4 X Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)].
Thirty-four year-old Melissa Jean BELANGER is charged with:
- Possession of a Loaded or Restricted Firearm [CC 95(1)];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 92(1)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)];
- Possession of a Firearm or ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)];
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
Both accused made their first appearance on these charges in Regina Provincial Court this morning, June 2, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
