Two youths are facing charges in relation to the murder of a 30 year-old man on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
At approximately 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024, police received a report of a seriously injured male in the area of 8th Avenue and Retallack Street. Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying on the ground with injuries consistent with stab wounds. Officers provided first aid until EMS arrived. Despite continued life-saving measures, the victim, 30 year-old Charles Russell THOMPSON, succumbed to his injuries on scene.
The Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from Community Services Division (Patrol) officers, Crime Reduction Team, Street Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, and in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service, launched an investigation that resulted in the arrest of two, 15 year-old males on December 27, 2024.
The youths, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are charged with the following:
15 Year-Old Male:
- Second-Degree Murder [CC 235(1)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Release Order [CC 145(5)(a)].
15 Year-Old Male:
- Second-Degree Murder [CC 235(1)];
- Fail to Comply with Release Order [CC 145(5)(a)];
- Fail to Comply with Release Order [CC 145(5)(a)]; and
- Carry Concealed Weapon [CC 90(1)].
The two youths will make their first appearance on these charges in Regina Youth Court tomorrow (December 30, 2024) at 9:30 a.m.
