At approximately 10:25 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Montague Street for the report of a stolen vehicle. Information received was that the vehicle was confirmed to be stolen from North Battleford by two males who were now in Regina.
When police arrived at the location, they observed two males who matched the suspect description walking northbound near the vehicle. Police attempted to apprehend the suspects and a brief foot pursuit took place. One individual was taken into custody immediately while the Canine Unit was called to assist in the second arrest. A successful canine track turned up the second suspect near 5th Avenue.
A search of the vehicle revealed firearms and ammunition.
As a result of this investigation, 24 year-old Grayson RUDA of North Battleford is charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [CC 355(A)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)] X2; and
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 92(1)]; and
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [CC 94(1)]; and
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)] X2; and
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
A youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is also charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 [CC 355(A)];
- Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)] X2; and
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm [CC 92(1)]; and
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [CC 94(1)]; and
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking [CC 145(4)(A)]
RUDA and the youth made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court and Youth Provincial Court, this morning, Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
