Early this morning, Friday, September 6, 2024, at approximately 5:40 a.m., police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of 9th Avenue North and McCarthy Boulevard involving an RPS patrol vehicle.
Initial information indicated that a patrol unit was engaged in a traffic stop, with their emergency lights activated, when they were rear-ended by another vehicle. Upon arrival, police and EMS assisted the injured officers who were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene where he was arrested without incident.
As a result of this investigation, thirty-two year-old Chase CHYPYHA of Regina, is charged with:
- Operation of a Conveyance by Alcohol or a Drug or Combination Causing Bodily Harm [CT 320. 14(2)] X2;
- Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand [CT 320.15(1)].
CHYPYHA will make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
