Early this morning, August 20, 2024, at approximately 3:10 a.m., police were dispatched to a business on the 1600 block of Winnipeg Street for the report of a break and enter. Initial information indicated that there was a male in the secured compound.
Police arrived on scene and set up a perimeter and a Police Service Dog (PSD) was sent inside the compound to locate the suspect. A short time later, the PSD located the male suspect, which resulted in the suspect being bit by the PSD. The suspect was arrested and transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries.
As a result, 34 year-old Geoffrey HIRST, of Estevan, is charged with:
- Break and Enter [CC 348(1)(B)];
- Possession of Break in Instruments [CC 351(1)].
HIRST will make his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.
