On the morning of Sunday, July 28, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Athol Street for the report of a weapons offence. Information provided was that a male had been assaulted and injured by what appeared to be a knife, and the assailant had fled the scene.
Police arrived and located one injured person, whose injuries were consistent with assault by a knife.
A short time later, the suspect was located and arrested without incident on the 1500 block of Rae Street. A search revealed a knife.
A 14 year-old male youth, who cannot be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Aggravated Assault [CC 268 (1)];
- Breach of Probation [YCJA 137]; and
- Breach of Possession Contrary to Order [CC 117.01 (1)].
The youth made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Youth Court this morning, Monday, July 29, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
