A 42 year-old male has been arrested and charged after a firearms investigation that occurred on Wednesday July 10, 2024. At approximately 4:00 p.m. that day, the Regina Police Service Crime Reduction Team, with the assistance of the RCMP, executed a search warrant on a residence in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan.
As a result of the search police located:
- Over 30 firearms/receivers were located (non-restricted, restricted, and prohibited),
- boxes of various gun parts,
- several boxes of ammunition,
- a 3D printer with filament,
- 3D-printed firearms
- 3D-printed prohibited magazines,
- a prohibited muzzle suppressor,
- multiple data storage devices and computers, and
- other firearms related items.
Forty-two year-old Owen ALTWASSER, of Yellow Grass, is charged with:
- 2 X Careless storage of a firearm contrary to Regulations [C.C. 86(2)];
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized. [C.C. 92(1)];
- Possession of a prohibited device knowing its possession is unauthorized. [C.C. 92(2)];
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition [C.C. 95(1)]; and
- Weapons Manufacturing [C.C. 99].
ALTWASSER made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court yesterday, July 18, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
