On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., while dispatched to a residence on Britton Bay to investigate an assault complaint, police entered a home and observed four young males in possession of a firearm.
The youths were arrested and identified. The firearm was recovered and determined to be a loaded sawed-off rifle. One of the males was found to be in breach of prohibition orders. The males were subsequently charged with firearm possession charges.
Four Regina youths, ages 17, 15, 14, and 14, who will not be named in keeping with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are jointly charged with:
- Possession of Restricted Firearm With Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)];
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 92(1)]; and
- Careless Storage of Firearm [CC 86(2)].
The 17 year-old youth is also charged with:
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)];
- Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)]; and
- Failure to Comply with Disposition [YCJA 137].
The youth made their first appearances on these charges this morning, July 15, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
