In April of 2024, members of the Regina Police Service Property Crimes Unit entered into an investigation into large scale thefts from parking meters from the downtown area of Regina. As a result of the thefts, the City of Regina estimated losses to be in excess of $20,000 since the beginning of 2024. The investigation, in conjunction with the City Regina Department of Parking Services, led to the identification of two suspects, and an associated address in the 400 block of McIntyre St.
On June 21st, 2024, members of the Property Crimes Unit executed a search warrant in the 400 block of McIntyre St. Investigators were able to recover stolen property belonging to the City of Regina and evidence of ongoing thefts from parking meters as well as proceeds of those crimes.
As a result of this investigation, 48 year-old Jonathan Joseph GROHS of Regina, and 18 year-old Nixon Joseph GROHS of Regina, have been jointly charged with:
- Theft over $5000 [CC 334(A)]; and
- Mischief over $5000 [CC 430(3)].
Jonathan GROHS is also charged with:
- Breach of Conditional Sentence Order [CC 742.6(1)].
The accused made their first court appearance on these charges on Monday, June 24, 2024.
