On the evening of Saturday, June 8, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a burnt out brake lamp. Officers approached the vehicle and identified the driver, a 30 year-old male, and determined he was driving with a suspended license. Police noticed a firearm in the vehicle, and the driver and passenger were arrested for possession of a prohibited firearm. A search upon arrest revealed a loaded firearm, an unloaded firearm, and ammunition.
Thirty-one year-old Kevin Alexandra ELLIOTT, of St John’s, Newfoundland, is charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)];
- 2 X Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)]; and
- 3 X Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)].
Thirty year-old Jordan Cody FAYANT, of Indian Head, is charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)];
- 2 X Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)]; and
- Failure to Comply with Condition of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].
The accused made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, Jun 10, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
