On Friday, May 3, 2024, at approximately 10:45 a.m., police were dispatched the 900 block of Albert Street for the report of a stolen auto in progress. Information received was that a male had stolen a truck. While on the route to the call, police received a report that a truck matching the description of the stolen truck had just crashed into a fence on the 1300 block of Angus Street and that the driver had fled on foot.
Police arrived and located the vehicle stopped on the 1300 block of Angus Street.
At about 10:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the 2400 block of Dewdney Avenue for the report of a robbery in progress. Information indicated that that a male entered a hotel restaurant, caused damage and took merchandise, and threatened to shoot staff. The male then fled.
Police arrived and learned that the male had returned and was causing a disturbance. Police located the male in a hallway of the hotel. A foot pursuit ensued, which concluded outside where the male was taken into custody. The object used indicate a firearm in this incident was recovered, and was revealed to be a common household object, and not a firearm. Investigation determined that the male was involved in the previous stolen auto and motor vehicle incident, and that the male was driving while impaired. The male was subsequently charged for these offenses.
As a result, 31 year-old Nigel Paul DESCHAMBAULT, of Regina, is charged with:
- Robbery [CC 344];
- Theft of Motor Vehicle [CC 333.1(1)];
- Failure to Stop After Accident [CC 320.16(1)]; and
- Drive While Impaired [CC 320.14(1)(A)].
DESCHAMBAULT made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, Monday, May 6, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
