On Friday, March 29, 2024, at 2:39 PM, police were dispatched to a robbery in progress complaint involving a firearm occurring at a business in the 1300 block of Broadway Avenue. It was reported a male entered the business, was in possession of items from the business, and produced what appeared to be a firearm to an employee of the business. The male left the business without the items and any further incidents.
Police attended and located an adult male matching the suspect description in the immediate area who was arrested without incident. The male was in possession of a firearm when arrested.
Twenty four year-old Blaise Kaiswatum, of White Bear First Nations, is charged with:
- Armed Robbery Using A Restricted Firearm Or Prohibited Firearm, Sec. 344(1)(A) CC
- Disguise With Intent, Sec. 351(2) CC
- Carrying Concealed Weapon, Sec. 90 CC
- Possession Of A Firearm Knowing Serial Number Has Been Tampered With, Sec. 108(1)(B) CC
- Possession Of A Firearm Knowing Its Possession Was Unauthorized, Sec. 92(1) CC
Kaiswatum will make his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 9:30 AM.
