On the afternoon of Monday, March 4, 2024, at approximately 4:25 p.m., police observed a male wanted on warrants entering a taxicab in the area of Dewdney Avenue and Wascana Street. Police conducted a traffic stop on the taxicab and two passengers, a male and female, were arrested. A search yielded a firearm and a substance believed to be methamphetamine. The male suspect was in breach of a prohibition order not to possess firearms. The two were subsequently charged.
Twenty-four year-old Joseph George GORDON-DESNOMIE, and 22 year-old Kimberlee Desarae HASTINGS, are jointly charged with:
- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)];
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm In a Motor Vehicle [CC 94(1)]; and
- Carry Concealed Prohibited Firearm / Ammunition [CC 90].
GORDON-DESNOMIE is also charged with:
- Possession of Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)] and
- 2 X Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)].
HASTINGS is also charged with:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance (methamphetamine) [CDSA 4(1)].
GORDON-DESNOMIE and HASTINGS made their first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
