On Thursday, February 29, 2024, shortly after 2:00 a.m., police observed a vehicle with a license plate that did not match the vehicle. Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and while speaking with the three occupants, police observed a firearm inside the vehicle. Officers arrested the occupants and seized the firearm. A search of the vehicle and its occupants, revealed two knives. Two of the occupants were subsequently charged. A third occupant was released without charges.
Thirty-four year-old Shayla Ray Dawn BELLEGARDE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in a Motor Vehicle [CC 94(1)];
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)];
- Reckless Storage of Firearm [CC 86(2)]; and
- 2 X Carry Concealed Weapon [CC 90].
Forty-two year-old Earl Kelly HANSON, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of a Weapon [CC 88]; and
- Carry Concealed Weapon [CC 90].
BELLEGARDE made her first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court this morning, February 29, 2024, while HANSON appears in Provincial Court on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
