A 19 year-old female has been charged in connection to a fatal collision that occurred last year.
On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at approximately 1:18 p.m., police were dispatched to the Ring Road, between Wascana Parkway and Albert Street, for a report of a collision. When police arrived, they found citizens attending to a female who was lying on the ground. It appeared she was the driver of a white Ford car at the scene. A black Ford truck was in the ditch and the male driver of the truck was pronounced deceased by EMS. The name of the deceased person will not be released by the Regina Police Service. The 18 year-old female driver of the car was transported to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Collision reconstructionists from the RPS Traffic Safety Unit and members of the Forensic Identification Unit also attended assist Patrol officers, EMS and Regina Fire and Protective Services (RFPS) at the scene. Police investigation determined the driver of the white Ford car was travelling southbound on Ring Road. The vehicle entered the center ditch and continued into the northbound lane into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then collided with the Ford truck, which was travelling northbound.
As a result of several months of investigation led by members of the RPS Investigative Services Division:
19 year-old Jamie TESSMER, of Regina, has been charged with:
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death [CC 320.13 (3)].
TESSMER made her first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on October 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
