On May 12, 2023, at approximately 6:00 a.m., members of the Regina Police Service were dispatched to a report of a residential break and enter street near Coldwell Road and MacLean Street. Information provided was that someone had just broken into a house and stole a cell phone and vehicle keys. At approximately 6:50 a.m., police were dispatched to another residential break and enter in the same area on Coldwell Road. Officers spotted the suspect, who took off running through yards. A police canine unit attended and successfully located the suspect hiding in a yard. When located, the 17 year-old male had the cell phone from the first break and enter on him.
A seventeen year-old male who cannot be named in accordance with provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Break and Enter and Commit and Indictable Offence [CC 348(1)(b)] x 2
- Fail to Comply with a Condition of Release Order [CC 145(5)(a)]
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order [YCJA 137]
The youth made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2023.
