On May 7, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police were on route to an unrelated matter when they were flagged by a civilian at the intersection of Dewdney Avenue and Princess Street. The civilian stated that someone was currently being robbed.
Police located a male being held by two other males nearby. Officers were told that the male being held had attempted to rob a taxicab driver at knifepoint.
Investigation determined that two male suspects entered a taxicab and demanded money and property from the driver. One of the suspects took belongings, then both fled. The victim and a bystander chased the suspects. The suspect with the belongings was apprehended, and the belongings were recovered.
The suspect, a 22 year-old male, was taken into custody and charged. The second suspect in this robbery was not identified and remains at large.
Twenty-two year old Ryan HAPA, of Regina, is charged with Robbery [CC 344(1)B].
HAPA made his first appearance on these charges in Provincial Court today, May 8, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
