A 12 year-old has been charged with Break and Enter after investigation into an incident at a business in the 700 block of Albert Street last night (Sunday).
At approximately 9:13 p.m., on Sunday, January 22, 2023, police were dispatched to a business in the 700 block of Albert Street. The preliminary information given to police indicated a break-in to a restaurant, and described three young females as potential suspects. Police arrived and located a broken window and the fire extinguisher used to smash the window. They also discovered some alcohol had been consumed. Three suspects were identified, but two of the youngsters are under the age of 12 and cannot be charged. The third suspect, a 12 year-old, was subsequently charged in connection with the Break, Enter and Theft.
The name of the young person cannot be released in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The youth has been charged with Break, Enter and Commit Theft, contrary to section 348(1)(b) CC. The youth was released on an undertaking to appear in Youth Court on March 6, 2023.
