A 25 year-old male is facing charges of possession of stolen property after police recovered a vehicle that was stolen in early December.
On January 2, 2023, at about 6:48 a.m. police officers on patrol noted a vehicle parked in an alley in the 1200 block of Argyle Street that matched the description of a vehicle – a Dodge Dart – stolen from a driveway on Fines Drive, on December 12, 2022. A query of the license plate on the vehicle showed the plate was issued to a Ford Econoline van. Police detained and then arrested a male a short distance away. It’s alleged the suspect had the keys to the stolen vehicle in his pocket. The suspect was also found to be the subject of two probation orders. He was subsequently charged.
Twenty-five year-old Cree William Joseph LAFERTE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime (vehicle) under $5000, s. 355(b) CC;
- Possession of property obtained by crime (keys) under $5000, s. 355(b) CC;
- 2 X Fail to comply with Probation Order, s. 733.1(1) CC.
LAFERTE made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 (today).
