Two individuals are facing numerous firearms-related charges as the result of a police enforcement operation last night (Wednesday). The enforcement operation was the culmination of a lengthy investigation by the Regina Police Service Street Gang Unit into illegal firearm possession and drug trafficking in the city of Regina.
On January 4, 2023 a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 4700 block of Pasqua Street. Street Gang Unit members were supported by the Regina Police Service Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT), the Crisis Negotiator Team, and RPS patrol. A search of the residence resulted in the collection of the following evidence: six firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, and small quantities of controlled substances. Two males were charged as a result of this enforcement.
Thirty-one year-old Jesse Derrick FINK, of Regina, faces 25 criminal charges:
- 6 X Unsafe storage of a firearm, s 86(1) CC;
- 6 X Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, s. 92(1) CC;
- 4 X Possession of a prohibited firearm with readily accessible ammunition, s. 95(1) CC;
- 6 X Possession of a firearm while prohibited, s. 117.01(1) CC; and
- 3 X Possession of ammunition while prohibited, s. 117.01(1) CC.
Thirty year-old Aleksander Frederix WOSIK, of Regina, faces 16 criminal charges:
- 6 X Unsafe storage of a firearm, s 86(1) CC;
- 6 X Unauthorized possession of a firearm, s. 91(1) CC; and
- 4 X Possession of a prohibited firearm with readily accessible ammunition, s. 95(1) CC.
Both FINK and WOSIK made their first court appearances on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on January 5, 2023.
