A 43 year-old male, who was already the subject of outstanding warrants, is facing new charges associated with Break & Enter incidents as well as Theft.
On Thursday, September 15, 2022, just after 6:30 a.m., police were dispatched to North Maple Tree Bay, in the city’s North West, for a report of a suspicious person. The information received in the call indicated a young adult male appeared to be trying the doorknobs of several houses to find an unlocked door. Several complainants called the Communications Centre with similar reports. Police located a male on Mapleview Crescent and arrested him after a brief struggle. The male gave a name to police, but further investigation showed he’d given a false name. The male was wanted on outstanding warrants. Continued investigation led to evidence supporting charges of attempt break and enter as well as thefts.
Forty-three year-old Jason Scott STRAIGHTNOSE, of Regina, is charged with:
- Resist Arrest, s. 129(a) CC;
- Obstruction (false name), s. 129(a) CC;
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release, s. 145(5)(a) CC;
- Attempt Break & Enter, s. 348(1)(a) CC;
- Theft under $5,000 (theft from auto), s. 334(b) CC;
- Theft under $5,000 (misc. items), s. 334(b) CC;
- Possession of Break-in Instruments, s. 351(1) CC.
STRAIGHTNOSE made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
